Exciting news!

I have been offered a new teaching job with a dance school that teaches children in the community! This couldn't of come at a better time as this will support my ideas for my line of enquiry regards to teaching in different settings. I now have a teaching job with in primary schools (term time) and also community teaching position... this is going to allow me to compare the two with lots of support and evidence.

Feeling fabulous!!

5b continued.

So after looking online at school policy's and ethics and finding the government guideline document, I decided to contact my manager for a copy of my company's policy's and code of conduct documents etc.

One thing he did send me that wasn't mentioned on the government document I found was the social media policy. I'm presuming all schools must follow this however it was not stated on my previous findings.

So as an employee of a company who works within the school enviroment, this is what we must follow:

When working with in a community setting I'm sure some of these apply but maybe not all of them due to not been as strict?... Something I could explore further.

Whilst looking into the codes of practice and regulations of my work place, I came across the document on the government website. Listing the statutory policies schools must follow.

Some of the policies stated on the document don't apply to me as I work for an outside company so for example teachers pay is irrelevant but I still need to be aware of them. Although, alot of them still relate to me such as child protection etc compulsary for anyone working with children.

(This has also given me the idea of getting a copy of my company's policy documents to compare the two.)

Alot of what is in the document is the same as my initial thoughts in task 5a.

One main thing I didn't include that applies to me is the compulsary policy of taking a register. Although I missed this off my spider diagram previously, I have a folder with a copy of all my registers in for all of my after school sports/dance clubs. This is something I didn't think to include within school ethics.

I am interested in investigating this further, I will blog my findings.

So whilst I wait for a couple of books I have requested and also continue to look at different literature I have decided to move onto task 5.

Here is a spider diagram of the ethics that I would consider to apply with in my work place. (School setting.)

I hope im not the only one who keeps changing their minds...

So after my last blog entry about my meet up with Amelia i thought i was all set on the idea of "How has the change in society affected my teaching style"....HOWEVER.....i have now potentially changed my mind AGAIN!!

Tonight i have been researching various things around teaching, considering my current position and career...
I teach in many different schools doing dance and sport as part of the primary curriculum, but i have also taught dance with in communities (weekend, evening classes.)

SO... to give my enquiry more depth, i am considering exploring the same ideas as my previous plan but from a different angle:
School policies
The Pressures of teaching in a school setting.
Safeguarding.
Behaviour
Multilingual etc...

Which i can then compare to teaching with in a community...how they are different...how your teaching style changes depending on your environment...what about them are the same.

Here are some links that have made me reconsider my plan, they are about the stress that teachers are now facing in a school environments.

https://www.theguardian.com/teacher-network/teacher-blog/2013/dec/28/stress-crisis-teaching-profession-secret-teacher

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3020255/Four-10-new-teachers-don-t-YEAR-classroom-exhausted-stressed-colleagues-says-union-boss.html

Getting the wording right for the title (question) of my final line of enquiry is something i need to work on and with the help of more exploration i think it will help. So i think my overall idea is finally decided and i know which avenue i am exploring...(I think)

I hope that makes sense as i have just typed out what is in my head...lots of ramble at the minute!

Thoughts everyone?

Slight change in idea...

So a little delayed with posting this but last week me and Amelia met up for a coffee to discuss our options for moduel 2. Me and amelia trained at the same drama school and are both looking at going down the teaching route. We live in the same area so we thought this could be our own way of doing an SIG group as we can meet up regularly, as well as being involved in other people's groups.

After telling her my ideas my train of thought shifted to a particular topic "how has the change in society of today affected my teaching style" (along those lines)

Lots of ideas and "subheadings" came under this which I could explore:

- How has discipline changed over the years and why?
- Teaching multilingual classes
- Working with different cultures
- Policies with in schools and how they have adapted.
- Safe guarding.

Perhaps look at how choreographers work with different performers and over come the different language barrier as choreography is an interest of mine.

These ideas relate to my current proffesion as I work in various schools with various pupils from all back grounds. Sometimes it can be a challenge such as language barriers when teaching. This topic is something that really interests me and I think once I do my research and find out more, it will benefit me with in my career not only now but also for the future.

I've started looking at different literature to help my ideas but if anyone has any suggestions or thoughts then feel free to share! :)
